This was the first points race for the PTRA and it was held at the new zMAX Dragway in Concord. All in all this was not a good event for Rita, me and the Pinto. We went to the track on Friday because we were told we could test and tune. However, street cars were going down the track that night and I did not get to make any runs. On Saturday the Pinto just didn't perform like it usually does. That car is known to run 6.0 over and over and over but ever since I changed the drive shaft last year, I have been having trouble with the car. It has been wheel standing and going hard right and left. Not at all the consistent car it usually is. My qualifying runs were of no help. I'm sorry to say that I went out in the first round of competition. The run wasn't too bad -- the car ran a 6.04 -- but the other car ran closer to the number. I hope to spend some time at a track this week testing and tuning the car with Fast Eddie Thornburg to get it ready for the next race in Mooresville on May 2, 2009.

This coming weekend in Concord is "PINKS All Out". I did not enter, however, Tony Brown of PTRA asked me and other 6.0 racers to race in exhibition during some down time at the track. If I can shake down the car before then I will definitely participate. Look for the Pinto at zMAX during the PINKS race or when the race is shown on TV on August 6, 2009.
